After months of preparation and some excellent filmmaking, on the 21st of March we welcomed all the teams who took part in this year’s Our Europe project at the Scottish Parliament for the premier and awards ceremony. Our talented participants were invited to come together and watch their finished films for the first time, and it was a huge success! Pupils were joined by their teachers, local authority representatives, classmates and family members to mark the occasion. There were over 110 supporters who watched on as the teams presented their work and received awards.
All the work presented at the premier was of a very high standard, but awards were given to those teams that excelled in particular areas. The linguistic capabilities of the one team of pupils from St Mungos High School in Falkirk was recognized by an Award for Languages, and another was awarded a Special Achievement Award! Pupils from Drumchapel High School in Glasgow received an Award for Acting, while the team from Balfron High School in Stirling were given an Award for Editing, both schools having shown considerable skill in these areas.
The teams from Auchinleck Academy in East Ayrshire and St Rochs Secondary in Glasgow were applauded for their content, receiving awards for European Content and Creative Content respectively. In addition, St Rochs Secondary scooped the Peer Choice Award – as voted for by the teams themselves! The work produced by the teams from Kirkcaldy High School in Fife and Lenzie Academy in East Dunbartonshire was also highly commended!
